The Hekate Conscious Ageing Foundation (HCAF) is an impact-driven social venture founded in 2019.
It was created from the understanding that the challenges facing Europe
- such as care, mental health, housing, and the climate crisis - cannot be addressed by public institutions alone.
Individuals and communities of all ages have a vital role to play in shaping the social, economic, and digital solutions needed to support an ageing population and build a more resilient future.
Why Hekate?
In Greek mythology, Hekate (also spelled Hecate) is the three-faced goddess of the crossroads, able to see where we’ve come from, where we are, and where we might go. Her three-way vision connects past, present, and future, making her a symbol of guidance through life’s transitions.
Daughter of the Titans Perses and Asteria, she was honoured by Zeus in Hesiod’s Theogony and granted influence over heaven, earth, and sea. As a liminal goddess, Hekate stands at thresholds between youth and old age, certainty and change, life and death. Her time is twilight, the space between day and night.
Often depicted in triple form and present at key turning points, she appears at birth and re-birth, through transformation, and at death—reminding us that wisdom is gathered through lived experience over time.
Today, Hekate remains a symbol of intuition and wisdom. Her name reflects our belief that ageing is not something to manage, but a meaningful and valuable part of life’s journey.

Milena Milankovics
Co-founder | Gestalt Therapist | Social Entrepreneur
My life is driven by an ongoing curiosity to observe, explore, and find meaning in the interconnectedness of life whether in the workings of a single cell, a person in their environment, or Earth’s ecosystems.
My career began with a fascination for systems and processes within corporate organisations. Over time, I became increasingly drawn to the people behind those systems. This shift led me to specialise in organisational development, change management, and coaching. The Gestalt approach proved especially effective in this work and eventually led me to train as a Gestalt therapist—a natural evolution toward supporting human experience more directly.
Reflecting on my own midlife transition and the broader challenges facing our world became the catalyst for initiating the movement of Conscious Ageing. In 2019, I co-founded the Hekate Conscious Ageing Foundation. Through this work, combined with my Gestalt therapy practice, I explored permaculture design principles—deepening my understanding of nature’s systemic wisdom and resilience. Since then, conscious ageing and conscious living have been guiding principles in both my personal and professional life. This integrated approach allows me to bring together Gestalt therapy, mental health, and (social) permaculture to support positive change at individual, community, and societal levels.
